Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) presents a challenge for numerous activities that have become commonplace in our society.  While acute TBI is often discussed at the level of professional athletics and active military activities, milder, sub-concussive TBI is far more pervasive.  Concerns about sub concussive TBI extend out to military training environments and to all levels of youth and amateur sports.   Mild TBI (mTBI) may not be symptomatically apparent at the time of injury but has been shown to have lasting impacts and the ability to manifest cumulatively over time, especially with subsequent injuries. This project aims to utilize in-vitro models of TBI to induce and monitor damage in both biological and chemical realms.  This work details the application of the NMR to evaluate levels of organic compounds in cell culture supernatant produced as a response to trauma.  Data on both composition of supernatant and time delay from onset of trauma will be addressed.  This data will be addressed in comparison to the production of cytokines as evaluated through parallel biological application.
