Graphene Quantum Dots (GQDs) are an appealing nanomaterial composed of a monolayer or a few layers of graphene with great and distinct characteristics. GQDs' unique electronic structure and less toxicity confer functional properties such as strong and tunable photoluminescence for use in fluorescence bioimaging and biosensing, energy storage, drug delivery, and cancer-killing techniques. In this study, GQDs have been prepared by using of green synthesis technique. The formation of GQDs is confirmed by various characterization techniques like Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), UV-Vis Spectrophotometer (UV-Vis), and Photoluminescence (PL). Further, GQDs have been used for the photodegradation of organic dyes and the study of antimicrobial activity against harmful pathogens. Hence, the good photodegradation and antimicrobial activity of GQDs, make it impressive nanomaterials in the field of water purification /treatment from organic dyes and various bacterial and fungal disease. The studied parameters of photodegradation and antimicrobial from GQDs will be discussed during the event.
