Metallic glasses are solid materials, usually alloys of several elements with the absence of long-range order giving a glassy characteristic that shows a perspective of widespread engineering applications. In many cases, they offer superior performance compared to their crystalline counterparts. This work fabricated a tertiary composition of thin film metallic glass Zr-Al-Ti in layered structures with potential applications in bioimplant. Magnetron Sputtering Physical Vapor Deposition method was used to fabricate the thin films by altering each element in different layers of nanometer scale thickness. The corrosion resistance of the fabricated metallic glass films were evaluated by performing Potentiodynamic (PD) polarization and Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) tests. The tests were  performed by simulating a physiological environments using phosphate buffer saline (PBS). The results were compared with commercially pure titanium (cp-Ti). The layered metallic glass thin film of all compositions showed a few oder of magnitude lower value of corrosion current (i<sub>corr</sub>) and passive current (i<sub>pass</sub>) meaning a significantly better performance as a corrosion resistant protective film. Their crystallinity and surface morphology were studied using X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) analysis. XRD pattern showed the absence of any obvious crystalline Bragg’s peak indicating the amorphous structure of layered metallic glass thin films for all compositions. No features or crystalline grain boundaries were visible in surface morphology obtained by SEM as well which further confirms the amorphous nature of the deposited thin film metallic glass. All results will be demonstrated in detail in the presentation.
