Morressier Strategic Advisory Board Charter

Purpose

The Morressier Strategic Advisory Board (SAB) is established to foster collaboration among industry leaders in scholarly communication, with a focus on mission-driven scholarly publishers and societies. The SAB aims to identify and implement concrete actions to improve research integrity, encompassing pre- to post-publication stages, and the most relevant issues that scholarly publishers are facing these days. These actions may include cross-industry collaborations, technological advancements, policy developments, and the establishment of new standards.

Membership

The SAB consists of up to 15 senior executives from leading scholarly societies and mid-sized publishing organizations. Members are selected for their strategic and operational expertise, as well as their commitment to the ongoing dialogue among peers. Membership is for a minimum of two years, with annual recommitment. New members may be proposed by current SAB members or Morressier, subject to Board approval.

Meetings

The SAB will convene once annually in person, ideally aligned with major industry events, and at least 4 times annually virtually. The organization of the meetings will be supported by Morressier, with leadership from the SAB Chair and Co-Chair. The agenda will be collaboratively developed to ensure productive discussions.

Rules of Engagement

The SAB is an inclusive and open forum, operating under the Chatham House Rule: “participants are free to use the information received, but neither the identity nor the affiliation(s) of the speaker(s), nor that of any other participant, may be revealed.” Members are expected to participate actively, respect differing viewpoints, and maintain a professional and respectful environment.

Morressier’s Role

Morressier is committed to supporting the SAB by facilitating meetings, providing a communication platform, and maintaining the SAB web page. Where possible, Morressier will ensure that the SAB’s strategic discussions translate into actionable outcomes that benefit the broader scholarly community.
