Metal Organic Frameworks (MOFs) are two- or three-dimensional coordination polymers consisting of metal ions or metal clusters coordinated to organic ligands. MOFs develop features, such as porosity and large surface areas, from metal-ligand interactions while keeping the electro-optical properties of the metal center and the ligands. In the context of coordination chemistry, d- and 4f-block metals are usually chosen for the synthesis of MOFs but MOFs using actinides have also been reported in the literature. For instance, [(Th2F5(NC7H5O4)2(H2O)][NO3], and (UO2)3(v-BTC)2(H2O)4 contain thorium and uranium, respectively. Herein, the synthesis and structure of three uranyl-based MOFs, Ba(UO2)2(PO3CH2CO2)2 (BaUC2P1) tetragonal I-4c2, Pb(UO2)2(PO3CH2CO2)2 (PbUC2P1) tetragonal I-4c2, and Pb(UO2)2[PO3(CH2)2CO2]2 (PbUC3P1) monoclinic C2/c are presented. The first two MOFs are isostructural except for the change of counter cation. The third compound has the same overall topology of the first two but with a bent coordination.
