The scientific and medical communities see great potential in quantum dots (QDs) ability to behave as biosensing probes. This research is to develop knowledge of the impact of different buffer solutions on detecting cancer biomarker proteins at low concentrations. PBS buffer and borate buffer were compared. An optimization protocol was developed to find the ideal concentration of QDs to use when testing with protein in different buffers. Then the full plate protocol was used to test a wide range of protein concentration using an optimal limit of QDs in a specific buffer. These protocols were used to determine the overall optimal conditions for the QDs testing of cancer biomarker proteins. The study helps to understand the interactions between QDs and biomarker proteins, and to identify preferable conditions in the related biosensing applications.
