The Technological University (UTEC) is the second Public University in Uruguay and started teaching courses in 2014. It offers several careers in the inland of the country that are strongly linked to the productive sectors. The Interactive Science Program of UTEC is one of the cross-career programs of the UTEC that works with the disciplines of Biology, Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry, oriented towards the model of "STEM Education", seeking to increase the appropriation of knowledge and the development of 21st century skills in the area of sciences. This program, along with others from the Special Programs Department, provides elective courses that students must choose to complete their curricula. These courses can be face-to-face, semi-face-to-face or completely online. In particular, one line of work in the chemistry area involves developing online courses for first-year students, taking into account the demands of teachers and students. 

As in most educational institutions with a technological profile, most of the students are men. Out of every 10 students, only 3 are women. For that reason, this work seeks to identify if the generation of online courses facilitates the participation of women. Moreover, we want to know some parameters of the reality of the students who take these courses.
