Contemporary approaches to the History of Science in basic education aim to present Science as a human and socially constructed activity. Besides that, our work considers the History of Science as a possibility of revealing the broad network of scientific knowledge, in which a particular episode of science is inserted, seeking to contribute to defragmentation of school education, the main criticism of theorists who advocate for interdisciplinarity in Science teaching. Through hybrid research between History of Science and Science teaching, using secondary sources of research, we analyzed an episode of the History of Chemistry, in particular, the expansion of soda industries in Europe, seeking to reveal that it crosses the disciplinary boundaries and represent a good option for interdisciplinarity in schooling. The episode was analyzed by relating its interdisciplinary potential for school education to the references of the History of Science, which different contexts, dimensions, disciplines, and objects of study emerge from its analysis.
