Photoelectrocatalysis (PEC) combines electrochemical oxidation with irradiation of photocatalyst particles adhering to the electrode surface, which works as a photoanode. This process prevents the fast recombination of photogenerated charges in a photocatalytic process and increases the production of a higher amount of oxidizing species, as •OH radicals. This work proposed the preparation and optimization of a photoanode made with boron-doped diamond (BDD) and titanium oxysulfate as a precursor to form titanium dioxide (TiO2) through the sol-gel/spin-coating method, and its application in glyphosate degradation under UV light and dark conditions. The results showed that a photoanode with five layers of TiO2 precursor permitted to reach a higher photo-electrocatalysis of a redox system and better degradation of glyphosate compared with BDD without modification.
