Abstract

Authors reviewed 2447 interventions of HEMS teams in Poland over six-year period, related to Out of Hospital Cardiac Arrest. Over 90% of all the calls were secondary missions to support the ground EMS teams. In 1119 cases the Return of Spontaneous Circulation was achieved. The use of HEMS in OHCA as a part of double-tire response allows for more effective CPR and the presence of experienced physician on board improves the quality of post resuscitation treatment. In rural area interventions HEMS allows for significant shortening the evacuation time to the referral centers if required.
