Abstract

main epidemiological indicators including structure of hypoglycemic therapy in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Aim of this study was to assess dynamic of prescription of hypoglycemic therapy in patients with type 2 diabetes in Moscow region for 2004-2016 period. Material and methods: Analysis utilized data obtained from the Moscow Region DR (MRDR), collected over past 12 years. MRDR contained information about 228 344 patients with Т2DM. MRDR is part of State Diabetes Registry. Its software had been designed by Aston Consulting. Results: Structure of hypoglycemic therapy has changed significantly from 2004 to 2016 yrs (2004 and 2016): without hypoglycemic therapy 10.7%-9.2%, insulin 6.2% - 7.3%, insulin + non insulin agents 4.6% - 10.5%, non insulin agents 78.5%.- 73.0%. The structure of prescribing non-insulin agents significantly changed in 2016 compared with 2004 (metformin 76.9% and 12.5%, SU 54.8% and 83.5%). In 2016 new classes of glucose-lowering drugs were prescribed: DPP4 ing - 6.8%, SGLT2 ing -1.2%, ag r GPP1 0.4%. Fixed forms are actively used (metformin+DPP4 ing; metformin +SU) – 10.2% Patients ≥ 65 years compared with younger patients rarely used metformin (33.6% and 48.8%, respectively), and incretins (4.6% and 10.1%, respectively), but more often used SU (57.3% and 37.4%, respectively). Conclusions: Metformin is the most commonly prescribed oral anti-diabetic drugs. As before, a large percentage of patients remain on SU. New classes of hypoglycemic agents are prescribed in a small percentage of cases, especially those over the age of 65 yrs.
