Abstract

Objectives The objectives of this study were to evaluate the Psychotic-like Symptom of Adolescents in Taiwan Background and aims The definition of Bullying is involving: an imbalance of strength (either physical or psychological); a negative physical or verbal action; a deliberate intention to hurt another; and it is repeated over time. The victim suffered from both direct physical damage and indirect threat of peer relationship. Psychotic symptoms are important risk markers of wide range psychiatric disorders. Younger adolescents had a higher prevalence (21–23%) of psychotic symptoms than older adolescents (7%) (Kelleher 2012). Adolescents who reported psychotic symptoms were significantly more likely to be identified as a bully/victim than those who did not report such symptoms (Kelleher 2008). Psychotic symptoms are strongly associated with increased risk for suicidal behaviour in the adolescent population with or without psychiatric diagnosis (Kelleher 2012). We hypothesized Adolescent Psychotic-like Symptom Screener (APSS) can help educators find out schoolchildren at risk. Materials and methods The instrument, Chinese version of the 7-item APSS, is authorized by Kelleher and certificated with back translation. APSS and handwriting analysis were used for subjects’ evaluation. Total 354 subjects age from 10-15 were evaluated. Results 143 subjects (40.4%) with mild bullying risk, one month for APSS (1m) and writing scores > 2.5, were found. 37 persons (10.5%) have serious bullying risk, one month APSS (1m) and writing scores > 4. Conclusions Handwriting analysis and psychotic symptoms evaluation are quite helpful for educators Children got self-control after grown up.
