To identify studies on costs of burn care and describe the mean total cost of inpatients. Methods: We searched for costs studies in PubMed and Scielo. We collected data from country of study, methodologies used to compose costs total, total cost of hospitalization and total burned surface area (TBSA). We used the US dollar exchange rate corresponding to the study. Results: We selected 8 studies carried out in reference hospitals in the treatment of burns, in Europe, Latin America and Asia. The majority studies have determined direct costs, one study applied the health-related quality of life questionnaire, other carry out survival analysis and other study calculated cost-of-illness. Here we show mean of total cost of treatment of burned patients was very large. Values found for direct medical cost was US$ 7,956.92 in Australia and US$ 39,594.90 in Brazil. Discussion/Conclusion: We found the mean total cost inpatient very different between studies. We found diversity between studies and various components are possible to calculate cost osf treatment. Difference may be explain by technologies used in treatment, severity of health problem and also evaluation methodology used.
