Many papers have shown that the weight of patients with diabetes can be a barrier to achieve metabolic control. We compared the evolution in patients with type 2 diabetes and applied different calories restriction and exercise in groups with BMI ≥35Kg/m2 and <35Kg/m2 during a multidisciplinary intervention in one year.  We demonstrated that BMI is not an adherence barrier and metabolic control can be achieved independently of the weight. Even at 1 year evaluation, patients with ≥35Kg/m2 maintain control of parameters. A key point is to consider realistic, sustained and measurable goals.
