Background
The NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement recognizes patient information leaflets as a quality and service improvement tool. This project assessed the trust leaflet on Laryngopharyngeal Reflux(LPR) utility to patients. 
Objectives
To assess readability and patient response 
Methods
The Flesch Reading age and Flesch-Kincaid score of the text was calculated.
Patients were asked to rate the leaflet as to its ease to read and potential usefulness. Those who agreed, were contacted 6 months-12 months after receiving the leaflet. 
Results
 The Flesch Reading grade was 8.4 and Flesch-Kincaid reading ease score was 57.8. Initally, 100% of patients said the leaflet was easy to read, and 92.9% thought it would be useful. At follow up 80% of patients said the leaflet was useful.  30% stated the leaflet influenced their behavior.
Conclusion
Readibility of text is important for patients to be able to engage with information leaflets. However, to ensure maximal benefit to patients from leaflets is more challenging.
