Purpose of the study: Over the last four decades, we are witnessing tremendous sequel to the staggering increase in trauma related mortality and morbidity rates, claiming more productive life years than any other disease Worldwide. The rectification of “trauma is easy - trauma teams are hard” dogmatic view was tackled within varying trauma resuscitation bays with implementation of simulation based trauma team training. The present novel team approach focuses on non-technical skills (NTS) and correlates with positive clinical outcomes of subsequent real-time trauma resuscitation. In the sense of simulation based trauma team training the European Trauma Course (ETC) programme tuned in with state of the art trauma team training and NTS teaching, adaptable to local policies and flexible in meeting individual trainee needs. The integration of ETC simplified and standardised approach to trauma patient management into United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) trauma centers training syllabus started in 2015. The aim of our study was to identify the growth of the ETC trauma team training in UAE since inaugural course held at the MOHAP Training and Development Center - Sharjah, in October 2015. Materials and methods: An online ETC database search, for the time period from October 2015 until May 2018, was performed. Results: Up to date, 18 ETCs were successfully completed in UAE. A total of 186 (83%) male physicians, aged from 30 to 63 years (median 33), underwent trauma team training. The majority of candidates were surgeons (39%), followed by emergency physicians (35%), anaesthetists (20%), and general medical practitioners (6%). Conclusion: Our results demonstrate a successful growth of the simulation based trauma team training, in reference to ETC educational principles of horizontal team approach, in UAE. The future plan is to continue and comply with simulation based training and teaching streamline and implementation throughout UAE.
