PURPOSE OF STUDY
The aim of this study is to convey the implementation of a program to raise the health awareness of the school-leavers who finish compulsory education in Catalonia.  Hence, they know how to act in a sudden death situation, performing Basic Life Support manoeuvres (BLS). We also expect this knowledge to be maintained over time.
MATERIAL AND METHODS
In 2007, a pilot plan began to include the life support within the school curriculum. A working group of teachers, with the support of the Catalan Resuscitation Council, proposed:
•         The curriculum in spiral for all students in compulsory education stage (from 3 to 15 years)
•         Necessary teaching material
•	Programming Units: description of the core competencies, learning objectives, assessment criteria, contents, description of the activities, etc.
•	Teacher’s documentation: lectures, description of the activities, observation and evaluation grids, etc.
•	Student’s documentation: cards, self-assessment, etc.
•         Structured teacher’s training.
A pyramidal structure was developed to organise, monitor and update the whole program and also for the management of all the issues related to Basic Life Support in schools (BLSs).
In 2014, the Department of Education from the Catalonian Government signed an agreement supporting and endorsing the program, increasing the rate of the implementation.
RESULTS
Nowadays, the program has 1100 teachers in 500 schools with 130.000 students in different steps of the learning process.

CONCLUSIONS
It is mandatory to speed up the program implementation if we want to cover the actual 1.012.594 student in Catalonia. This will be only achieved introducing the program as compulsory in the school curriculum, which can only be achieved with the full support of the Department of Education.
