There is a need to share the lessons learned from capacity building efforts in order to minimize redundancy and maximize opportunities for improvement. In 2015, a public grant was awarded to build capacity for stroke clinical trials in Canada.  Through this grant, an opportunity was created that enabled stroke research coordinators to meet at Canadian Stroke Congress 2016, conduct a needs analysis and discuss how they may contribute to enhancing stroke research capacity. This lead to the development of a team of Canadian Stroke Research Coordinators to determine needs, develop initiatives and promote knowledge transfer between coordinators to enhance stroke research capacity. We aim to highlight the insight gained from our experience and the progress made in improving education, collaboration and communication among Canadian Stroke Research coordinators.
