Objectives:
The aim of this study was to determinate if spirituality can affect the psychologic being of patients with cancer.

Background:
Diagnosis of cancer affects deeply the patients causing anxiety or depressive disorders; the spiritual well-being of these patients seems to be a dimension which can influence the psychological status of the patient. Therefore, it’s interesting to look for the relationship between those two dimensions.

Materials and Methods:
It is a descriptive correlational,quantitative and transversal study. It was realized in the university Hospital of Sousse. Research instruments included a datasheet and three validated scales: the HAD-S(assessing depression and Anxiety), SF-36(assessing the quality of life) and the FACIT-Sp12 version 4(assessing the spirituality status).

Results and Conclusions:
The population of study consisted of 120 women (60 %) and 80 men (40 %).The average age of the patients was 51,46 years±11,201. The prevalence of anxiety was 34,5 %(n=69) and that of depression was 29,5 %(n=59).The score of spiritual well-being(0-4) was 27,16±10,063, using the FACIT-Sp 12. The correlational study between the anxiety, the depression, the spirituality and the quality of life demonstrated a positive association between HADS-A and HADS-D(r=0.792),also between PCS and FACIT-tot(r=0.266). Negative associations were found between HADS-A and MCS(r=-0.563), between HADS-D and MCS(r=-0.549) and between HADS-D and FACIT-tot(r=-0.449). Negative associations were identified between HADS-A and PCS(r=-0.223), between HADS-A and FACIT-tot(r=-0.303) and between HADS-D and PCS(r=-0.299).
This investigation considered multiple dimensions of patients with cancer: physical, mental, psychological and spiritual dimensions. This study will allow us to take a better care of those patients in their globality.
