Objectives:
 Learn about national evidence driven clinical pathways for suicide risk screening in pediatric hospital settings in the USA.
 Understand the outcomes from implementation of a hospital wide screening and intervention workflow.

Background:
Youth suicides an international public health issue. 80% of youth who complete suicide have seen a healthcare provider within12 months of completed suicide, in the USA.This presentation will share outcomes from the implementation of a clinical pathway (CP) for screening, triaging and managing pediatric suicide risk in hospital settings.

Materials and Methods:
“Pathways in Clinical Care- PaCC” workgroup of the physically ill child committee of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP) published evidence driven CPs for suicide risk screening in pediatric hospital settings. The pathway was implemented at the Benioff Children’s hospital, San Francisco (BCH-SF). The clinical outcomes from it’s implementation will be reviewed.

Results and Conclusions:
All hospitalized patients >10 years were eligible for Ask Suicide Questionnaire (ASQ) screening.  ~80% compliance with screening administration was found. The medical/surgical floors were most successful in implementing screening with a 90% completion rate. Units with a high proportion of critically ill children, such as the cardiac intensive care unit had the lowest rates. The rate of positive response was 6-7% which remains manageable for triaging and intervention. Staff knowledge and attitudes towards asking about suicide have improved. The results so far show that this CP is feasible to implement without overwhelming the available clinical resources. Successfully addressing rising youth suicide rates require evidence driven clinical programs implementation and outcomes assessment in pediatric settings
