Background: The objective of the present study was to adapt, study the factor structure and reliability in the Ecuadorian population of the Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale (DERS). Methods: A non-probabilistic sample of 1172 participants were used (age: M = 21.99, SD = 2.49, 58.6% women and 41.4% men). Results: The first main axis factorization study identified five interpretable factors that explain 49.22% of the variance. The second confirmatory factor analysis study indicates an acceptable fit (GFI = 0.95, AGFI = 0.95, NFI = 0.94, RMR = 0.11). The reliability coefficients revealed coefficients of 0.90 alpha of Cronbach and 0.91 omega of McDonald. Conclusions: The Ecuadorian version of DERS shows good psychometric properties and adapts to the cultural context of this country.
