As our societies grow older, perceived age, the age someone is estimated to have, is socially important. Suspectibility to aging is greatly variable and this variability can result in differences between perceived age and real
age. Few studies focused on age perception among a same age group. Therefore, to identify skin biophysical parameters underlying age perception, we compared women who were looking younger or older than their real age, evaluating several facial skin parameters.
Conclusion = In a population of elderly Caucasian women, perceived age is rather a global perception driven by skin firmness and/or skin glow, than by local changes in skin characteristics.
