In this project we are measuring the ionic conductivity of salt/solvent electrolytes using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy over a temperature range from 0 to 50°C. The six electrolytes are fluoroorganosilyl esters, a fluorosilysulfone, and two additional bifunctional fluroorganosilyls at a concentration of 5 moles of solvent per 1 mole of LiPF6 (0.8-1.1 M LiPF6, varying with the density of the solvent). Our data for all electrolytes show that the solvents with the greater molecular weight had far less conductivity than the solvents with a lower molecular weight. Ionic conductivities of 1.5 mScm-1 and 1.3 mScm-1 were measured at 298 K for the two best fluororganosilyl ester electrolytes and these levels of ionic conductivity are commercially viable in lithium-ion batteries. All of the electrolytes fit the Vogel-Tamman Fulcher (VTF) temperature dependence. Utilizing diffusion NMR measurements on these electrolytes, salt dissociation can also be calculated. Neutral ion pair formation is extensive in these electrolytes demonstrated by the low salt dissociation values. The fluoroorganosilyl ester electrolyte with the greatest salt dissociation had the highest ionic conductivity.
