The importance of water purification is of the utmost importance. More than 35% of the world’s population does not have access to clean drinking water. The purpose of this work is to determine the absorptive properties of metal-organic framework (MOF), UiO-66. This work is significant in its use of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) for the applications in water purification, which are typically water sensitive. The analyte which will be using as my standard to clean is Methylene Blue. Methylene Blue is a common cationic dye used in the textile industry. In this work, UiO-66 used to filter out methylene blue dye and the filtrate will be measured by spectrophotometric analysis. UiO-66 is expected to greatly reduce the Methylene Blue concentration based on its physical properties.
