The varied experience of sex and race/ethnicity groups are often explored in chemistry contexts to better understand course performance differences. In this talk we report a psychometric evaluation and series of measurement invariance studies for the Achievement Emotions Questionnaire for Organic Chemistry (AEQ-OCHEM) in a first-semester organic chemistry course. Where appropriate, differences by sex and race/ethnicity categories are reported. Implications for how the AEQ-OCHEM tool can be used to evaluate student experiences will be offered.
