A critical aspect of the use of nanoparticles in biomedical applications relates to their surface chemistry. The nature of interaction of ligands with the nanoparticle surface, their hydrophilicity/hydrophobicity, their length, charge and density around the nanoparticles surface are critical factors that contribute to the performance of nanopartiles in biomedical applications. This talk will discuss a series of nanoparticles desings created in our lab where accurate manipulation of the nanoparticle surface chemistry results to functional nanoparticles and defines their fate in various biomedical systems.<br/><br/><br/>
