Water is the most important liquid on Earth because its presence is essential for life. However, despite water is one of the most studied substance, we do not understand all its anomalies when compared with other similar liquids. Specially, the dynamics of water at supercooled temperatures in solutions of different types of molecules is a hot topic of debate in the literature. Broadband dielectric spectroscopy (BDS) is a suitable technique for investigating such dynamics because the high dipole moment of the water molecule. Therefore, BDS allows studying the dynamical behavior of amorphous water in solutions in the deeply supercooled regime (e.g., 150–300 K at ambient pressure) and in a very broad frequency range (10-2 to 109 Hz). In this work, we will present dielectric experiments showing the effects of isotopic substitution (replacement of H2O by D2O or H2O by H218O) on the dynamics of water in solutions with polymeric and bio-polymeric solutes at supercooled temperatures. These studies will shed some light about what are the molecular mechanisms involved in the dynamics of water.
