A series of newly discovered transition metal and lanthanide mixed metal organic frameworks were synthesized. Two paramagnetic isostructural mixed metal MOFs with either Cu and Gd, or Cu and Ho were created. The Li+ conductivity of these two MOFs will be studied to determine their potentials as solid electrodes. The isostructure of a previously discovered silver-lanthanide metal coordination complex was used as a precursor to create mixed metals MOFs containing either Ag and Gd, or Ag and Ho and the organic linker, isonicotinic acid or INA. The addition of another organic linker, terephthalic acid, or additional transition metals or lanthanide will be done in order to create 3-D extended framework. Using another previously discovered precursor, Ag(INA)<sub>2</sub>, the addition of different lanthanides and transition metals along with different organic linkers will be used to form new mixed metal MOFs. The magnetic properties, surface area and luminescence of the resulting MOFs will be analyzed in order to determine their potential applications as sensors, single molecular magnets, and gas capture and separation.
