Antibiotic resistance is a growing public health concern, with its prevalence at an all-time maximum due to the overuse and misuse of antibiotics, the substantial use of antibiotics in the agricultural industry, and the lack of discovery of new, novel antibiotics to combat resistant bacteria.  A key strategy in the development of new antibiotics is understanding the mechanism by which a given antibiotic is capable of disrupting bacterial functions. We provide a new approach to define the mechanism of action of antibiotics using microscopy to acquire images of antibiotic-bacteria interactions.  These images are then able to undergo computational analysis to ultimately determine mechanism of action trends and correlations between antibiotics. This technique provides greater insight to explain antibiotic activity, and provides evidence by which to define avenues for antibiotics to be modified to improve potency.<br/>
