This presentation describes an instructional method based on active learning through understanding and making analogies. Students were asked to engage in Think-Pair-Share in order to discover analogies between the taught content and daily life examples or previously taught concepts. They were then asked to pair with one student and discuss their analogy model by comparative analysis. The team of two students gave a Power Point presentation to engage the whole class in the discussion, while receiving peer-feedback. This teaching strategy was implemented in organic and introductory medicinal chemistry classes.
