An evident gap exists, still, for women and minorities in STEM fields. Statistics illustrate that failure to recognize the need for equity and inclusion in fields of STEM throughout higher education and various career paths is an injustice to the next generation. But how do the affluent tip-toe against this line without being disrespectful when they genuinely care? And how does the future generation of the underrepresented population navigate the unknown, and often scary territory without getting overwhelmed, intimidated and discouraged? In an effort to understand and heighten the visibility of such a sensitive topic we will explore the marginalization of communication intentionally or unintentionally, outline the barriers that inhibit underrepresented minorities from pursuing STEM fields and explore how to reduce and interrupt these barriers.<br/>
