Electrochemical production of hydrogen from water is an important and convincing clean-energy technology while developing an efficient electrocatalyst with the high stability is a crucial and still challenging task. Herein, a novel heterostructured system composed of the CoP nanoarrays on 2D MoO2 nanofilms supported by Mo foil (CoP-MoO2/MF) is firstly reported as a robust electrocatalyst for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) (Figure 1). By effective interface construction, the fast electrical transport and pronounced charge transfer at the interface in CoP/MoO2 is created, which leads to the dramatically elevated HER performance, with a quite low overpotential of 65 and 42 mV in acidic and alkaline solutions to afford the current density of 10 mA cm-2, respectively. Remarkably, the CoP-MoO2/MF shows a very larger exchange current density (1.88 and 10.11 mA cm-2) than CoP/MF (0.349 and 0.98 mA cm-2) in 0.5 M H2SO4 and 1.0 M KOH, respectively, also superior to most electrocatalysts reported recently (Figure 2 ). This work paves a new way for exploring robust, cost-effective catalysts for HER.
