UPE/Ag nanocomposites were synthesised to evaluate effect of Silver nanoparticles on cure rate and strength build-up of the UPE resin over time. The tests were conducted on 0.5%, 1.0% and 1.5% Ag nanocomposite samples at different times, showing effect of time on cure rate and mechanical strength. The times measured were taken after the completion of resin set time or working time as recommended in the Industry, at 20 seconds intervals until the ultimate end of the reaction. At each 20 seconds interval, the exotherm temperature of the nanocomposites was measured against time, indicative of cure rate. It was observed that as the rate of cure increases, the shear strength also increases with the UPE/Ag nanocomposite showing superior performance compared to industry benchmark.
