A simple post-synthetic metalation method was utilized for the incorporation of catalytically active copper species on sulfonic acid derived Cr-based metal−organic framework MIL-101-SO3H. The as-synthesized materials were fully characterized by SEM, XRD, FT-IR, EDX, XPS, BET and TGA method. The results of FT-IR, EDX element map and XPS indicated that Cu2+ is covalent bonded to the MIL-101-SO3H coordinately, forming the structure of Cu@MOF. Three novel copper-doped Cu@MOF catalysts were obtained and used in the selective oxidation of alcohols and epoxidation of olefins using molecular oxygen as an oxidant. The conversion of the optimal Cu@MOF reached more than 99% under mild reaction condition and it can be recycled fifteen times without compromising the yield and selectivity.
