In continuation of our studies on the biological activities of quinonoid compounds, we designed the synthesis of some new 2-(6-aminoadipamido)-3-amino-1,4-naphthoquinone derivatives and studied their cytotoxic effects in MCF7 and MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cell lines. The compounds were synthesized via monoacylation of 2-amino-3-chloro-1,4-naphthoquinone with adipoyl chloride. The resulting 2-(6-chloroadipamido) intermediate was subsequently reacted with selected primary and secondary amines to furnish the target compounds. Biological evaluation in MCF7 and MDA-MB-231 was carried out using MTT assay.
