The relationship between chemistry education and society has never been more obvious as we train students to develop solutions to problems by using methods that are safer for human health and the environmnent. For two decades, individual faculty from various colleges and universities worldwide have brought green chemistry, emphasizing materials and methods that are inherently safer for human health and the environment, to their students and research programs. As global calls for sustainability in the chemical enterprise ramp upward, the need to more widely integrate green chemistry into the background of all our chemistry students becomes imperative, preparing students to be competitive in the workplace and to solve important societal problems that they will encounter. The Green Chemistry Commitment (GCC) is a project that encourages colleges and universities to commit to changing the education of tomorrow's chemists. Currently 62 colleges and universities are participating - from large universities to small colleges to community colleges, in the USA, Canada, Africa, Australia, and South America. The flexible framework allows all to participate in ways that best fit the local needs of the institution. This poster will discuss how to adapt the GCC framework to a wide range of colleges. It is a goal of this presentation to broaden participation in the GCC.
