2-(2’-hydroxyphenyl)imidazo[1,2a]pyridines (HPIPs) have been reported to display enhanced excited state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) in the solid state. The combination of yellow-emitting HPIPs with blue-emitting methoxy-PIPs has been reported to display white luminescence in solid state. Fluoro-HPIP derivatives will be synthesized using the Ortoleva-King method by condensing fluoro-2-hydroxyacetophenone derivatives with 2-aminopyridine. Fluoro-MeOPIPs will be synthesized using the same synthetic methodology. This project will summarize efforts of tuning the ESIPT behavior of fluoro-HPIP derivatives and the effect on the luminescence when combined with a structurally similar MeOPIP in PMMA.
