<br/>Luminescent Platinum (II) complexes based on pyridylazolate lagands attract attention as they have high quantum yield and high thermal stability which make them a good candidate in the application of organic light emitting devices (OLED). Tuning of ligands is of paramount importance to accomplish white organic emitting devices. By pursuing photophysical properties of a variety of ligands, achieving white organic emitting devices with high efficiency is possible. Complexes based on transitions metals in group ten of the periodic table have this feature to promote square planar molecular geometry. This square planar form makes it possible to have metal-metal and ligand-ligand interaction. Altering ligands can change the interactions between platinum centers and the ligands. These different interactions can affect the highest occupied molecule orbital (HOMO) and the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) energies by adjusting steric and electronic effects. Also, studying the complexes in solutions will help us to understand the host-doped behavior in the organic light emitting devices. Though solubility of Pt complexes is low in most of solvents, by using a mixed solvent consisting of dichloromethane and methanol in a nine to one ratio, the solubility of the Pyridylazolate Pt complexes improved dramatically. In solution, both monomer and excimer forms are observed depending on the concentration of the solutions. The monomer is dominated at a lower concentration, and the excimer appears when the concentration is above 5 × 10<sup>-4 </sup>M. The completely characterized pyridylazolate platinum complexes will be fabricated as emissive layers in the OLED devices.
