A common concern amongst college students is finding a job after graduation. To help combat this, students pursing a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Chemistry Technology (ICT) at Ferris State University are required to complete a 10-week long internship as part of their coursework. By working in an industrial setting, not only do the students gain additional lab experience, but they also are able to improve various soft skills such as communication and collaboration as well as further expand their professional networks. The internship’s effectiveness in increasing student employability will be determined by interviewing current students and program alumni. Job placement statistics will be presented as well as various testimonials about the internship experience.
