Sonogashira coupling is vital to organic synthesis as it allows for the formation of carbon-carbon bonds and therefore plays a crucial role in the development of natural products, pharmaceuticals, as well as other organic material. An investigation of such reaction has taken place with the objective of increasing its sustainability by eliminating solvent in production and implementing recoverable material throughout. As a result of sonogashira coupling, the product 1-methyl-4-(4-phenyl-1-butyn-1-yl)benzene has been achieved under mechanochemical conditions, via high speed ball milling. Furthermore, product yield has been observed when the palladium catalyst used to drive the reaction is replaced with palladium metal in which one optimization allowed for 100% recovery.<br/>
