Our student-run ACS chapter, DCS (Denison Chemical Society) serves our chemistry department primarily as a link between students and faculty, as well as between the department and the community. The focus of the club is to engage with local schools through various outreach events and chemistry demonstrations. Over the past few years, we have found that the governing body in our chapter has been composed mostly of senior majors. While this is typically not a problem throughout the year, transitioning responsibilities to the junior class near the end of the year can be a challenge. Our main goal is to increase membership of underclassmen through the creation of an inter-departmental peer mentorship program. Additionally, we are working on promoting our social media presence in hopes of increasing involvement and awareness across our campus.
