Recently, a lot of advancements have been made to report solution processed polymers with surprisingly high benchmark field effect mobilities &gt; 1cm2/Vs; reported bulk-mobilities in these materials are yet, lower by several orders of magnitude. Here, we report how bulk transport in solution processed organic semiconductors can greatly be enhanced by passivating water induced traps through the use of additives. We demonstrate several highly efficient mechanisms for the removal of such water induced traps that are omnipresent in conjugated polymer devices. Using our new additive route, we are able to dramatically improve the operational stability and performance of polymer field-effect transistors, demonstrate conjugated polymer diodes with record space-charge-limited-current (SCLC) mobility of up to 0.2 cm2/Vs and realize highly stable low-voltage transistors for the application in biosensing.
