The Student Chapter of the American Chemical Society at Minot State University (MSU) is the only ACS Student Chapter in the entire state of North Dakota. The Chapter received its Charter in 2008. It is a fairly small organization with an average annual membership of 8 to 10 students. Since its inception, the Chapter members have regularly participated in annual meetings of the American Chemical Society, presenting both their individual research and representing the Chapter. In the past three years, the Chapter members also presented chem demos at the ACS spring Meetings. In 2013 and 2018, the Chapter received Certificates of Achievement for its exceptional service and, in 2019, it received the Honorable Mention Award for its Commitment and Achievement. All members of the Chapter have been very active in conducting research in chemistry and in presenting the research results at various science meetings. Since 2008, the students have made over 280 original research presentations at the national, regional, state, and local levels, including 51 presentations at the ACS Meetings. The Chapter members submitted seven original research abstracts to the 2019 Spring National Meeting of the American Chemical Society in Orlando. Between 2009 and 2019, MSU chemistry students were selected eight times by the national Council for Undergraduate Research to present their research results to the members of the United States Congress at the Posters on the Hill" session.
