Measuring the dissemination and use of research-based instructional strategies provides context for understanding the state of instruction in general chemistry. Data from a national survey across chemistry, mathematics, and physics offer insight into the pedagogical activities experienced by students taking gateway STEM courses. In this talk, we will share current instructional practices used in general chemistry courses in the U.S., internal validity measures of the survey, comparisons with other the other disciplines and surveys of postsecondary chemistry, policy and funding implications.
