For economic viability of future bio-refineries, lignin is gaining growing interest for its applications in various fields like functional coatings, nanoglues, microfluidic devices, drug delivery vehicles, stabilizers of cosmetic, pharmaceutical formulations, etc. Lignin nanoparticles (LG NPs) offer many opportunities for value-added applications due to its smaller size, larger surface area, better dispersibility and stability. This work demonstrates that stable LG NPs were prepared by the one-step probe sonication. The morphology of colloidal lignin nanoparticles was precisely controlled in an aqueous solvent by varying frequency on probe sonication. The morphology studies of LG NPs were carried out by using scanning and transmission electron microscope, and dynamic light scattering.   The impact of lignin nanoparticle formation on molecular weight, surface area, the concentration of hydroxyl groups, and other structural and morphological properties were analyzed and discussed using GPC, 2D HSQC NMR, <sup>31</sup>P NMR, and BET.  <br/>
