The primary goal of the ACS chapter at the University of Central Arkansas last year was to increase involvement between students and faculty. This goal was achieved by providing a variety of events, such as our resume workshop, which targeted the interests of chapter members. Additionally, prolific advertising using flyers, reminders, an electronic advertisement board, social media, email, and face to face interactions were used. This led to an increased involvement in the chapter meetings. Involvement in chapter activities and events also increased by providing food and entertainment at events, as well as incentives (such as points toward officer eligibility). This year, the focus of our chapter has shifted from campus involvement to involvement in the greater Conway community. The UCA ACS is striving to develop a partnership with Conway High School to illustrate to them the endless possibilities of chemistry, and the excitement of the science via safe demonstrations and interactive activities.
