Water-soluble ionic polyphosphazenes is an intriguing family of synthetic biodegradable polymers, which can spontaneously self-assemble with pharmaceutically active molecules and biological targets, and therefore offer remarkable opportunities as drug delivery vehicles. Versatility of their synthetic pathway, which employs macromolecular substitution approach, facilitates the development of innovative structures and results in macromolecular systems that can target multiple biomedical applications. This presentation will focus on ionic water-soluble polyphosphazenes for non-covalent PEGylation of therapeutic proteins, multimerization of Toll-like receptor agonist as a new approach to development of effective immunomodulators, and fluorinated systems for layer-by-layer assembly of biocompatible drug eluting coatings.<br/>
