The introduction of more efficient scintillation materials using lanthanide siloxide complexes rather than lanthanide doped chemicals provides an alternative route to an important area of research. Lanthanide chemistry is that of understanding the special properties and characteristics of these elements and finding important and useful applications for them in the scientific community as well as improving the technology around us. These fluorescent and potentially rad-hard materials may even be able to compete with the industry leading standard scintillation materials. Scintillators are responsible for the CT-Scan that can diagnose a patient and the detection of firearms, narcotics, and other hazards in an airport security system. The importance of scintillators and the need for a higher sensitivity has pointed my research in the direction of a family of these complexes.<br/>
