The synthesis of metalloporphyrin doped polythiophene and polypyrrole nanoparticles is reported. Two water-soluble porphyrins, <i>meso</i>-tetrakis(4-sulfonophonyl)porphyrin or <i>meso</i>-tetrakis(4-N-methylpyridyl)porphyrin were incorporated into the nanoparticles. These porphyrins metalled with either Mn(III), Co(II), Ni(II), or Cu(II). The physical properties of these porphyrin polymetallole nanoparticles, as well as their applicability for water oxidation catalysis, was explored.
