A scaffolded curriculum has been developed around five content-rich integrated projects that seeks to strike a balance between teaching fundamental laboratory skills and providing space for students to practice scientific thinking, creativity, and decision making.  Using structured, guided, and open inquiry laboratories, students acquire the needed foundational observation, notebook writing, psychomotor, and cognitive skills necessary to meaningfully engage in multi-laboratory integrated projects.  Real-world applications, environmentally pertinent questions, and hands-on experience with modern instrumentation stimulate student enthusiasm while concluding writing assignments challenge them to make connections with prior knowledge and communicate their own conclusions based on the analysis of data from multiple sources.  This structure ensures that chemistry and STEM majors possess the required foundational laboratory skills required for future chemistry courses while enriching the experience for all students by modeling how chemists approach complex problems.<br/>
